The ability to store and utilize energy in a regulated manner is fundamental to life. Abnormalities in energy metabolism play a central role in many diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, neurodegeneration, and aging.
Our group has two main areas of investigation:
1) the cell biology & physiopatholiogy of lipid storage and utilization
2) neuron cell biology and neurodegeneration.
The goals of our laboratory are to make fundamental contributions to biology and to train outstanding scientists. We welcome UCSF graduate students from the Tetrad, BMS, or Neuroscience programs to rotate in our laboratory.
