Sample Requirements for AutoGenprep 245T

1. The following table lists maximum tissue weight (frozen or wet) per one regular sample prep. Please dissect your sample to a proper size accordingly when you collect your samples.

Organ ------- Maximum Tissue Weight for One Sample Prep

Liver -------------- 50 mg

Heart, Muscle --- 40 mg

Lung -------------- 50 mg

Kidney ------------ 75 mg

Brain -------------- 75 mg

Intestines -------- 50~75 mg

Spleen ------------ 50~75 mg

Spermary --------- 75 mg

Seminal vesicle ---75 mg

Brown fat cell -----75 mg

White fat cell ---- 150 mg

For the tissues not on the list, the maximum tissue weight should be < 75mg.

2. If your sample is bigger than the maximum tissue weight and can not be dissected (i.e. whole heart, or cerebral hemisphere), we will need to use different method for the homogenization. Thus there will be an additional $5/sample charge on the larger sample.

3. Please use 2.0ml or 1.5ml tube (i.e. cryogenic tube or eppendorf tube) to store your sample. If your sample is in RNAlater solution, please transfer the sample to a 2.0ml or 1.5ml tube after 24 hours immersion, and store at -20C or below. If your sample is currently stored in Tissue and Biopsy Cassettes, please transfer the sample to a 2.0ml or 1.5ml tube before submitting to the Core.
