Lipid Clinic

The Gladstone Lipid Clinic is a referral center for patients who have unusual dyslipidemias that have been difficult to manage according to existing guidelines. Patients are referred to the clinic from the Community Health Network for San Francisco and from physicians throughout northern California and other western states. All the patients either have atherosclerosis-related ischemic vascular disease or are at high risk of experiencing a clinical event caused by atherosclerosis. The complexity of the patients’ medical problems enhances the educational experience for many individuals who attend the clinic as trainees. Medical and pharmacy students and residents, endocrinology fellows, and practicing physicians work in the clinic with the attending physicians, Drs. Thomas Bersot and Robert Farese. The University of California, San Francisco; St. Mary’s Hospital; and the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco; and Highland General Hospital in Oakland regularly send trainees.
