ABOUT THE CORE

Located on the 4th floor in the Institute of Cardiovascular Disease (Room 426), The Gladstone Stem Cell Core provides all the tools needed to enhance training and research in stem cell biology:

  • A furnished facility with multiple fume hoods, incubators, media and reagents, tissue culture plasticware, cell lines and microscopy services.
  • A fluorescent microscopy system with GFP, RFP and CFP filters and an imaging system with movie capabilities.
  • A ready supply of conditioned medium containing growth factors required for the maintenance of pluripotent mESCs.
  • A constantly expanding panel of RT-PCR primer sets specific to the needs of ESC research, including pluripotency genes, EB-regulated genes, and cell-specific marker genes.
  • An environment in strict compliance with NIH guidelines to provide and maintain a separation barrier for experiments with non-NIH-approved human ESC lines.

The GSCC will be renovating space in January to increase the size of the core. The new facility will have eight fume hoods and incubators, and two Zeiss Axio Observer microscopes capable of live high-speed time-lapse imaging and a standard Zeiss inverted microscope for fixed CCD imaging.

The Gladstone Stem Cell Core (GSCC) would like to thank the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine for proving the funding to establish the core.
