With the recent establishment of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) and the awarding of the J. David Gladstone Institutes of a CIRM Scholars Training Program grant, the GSCC will play a large supporting role in the training of CIRM scholars and other research scientists. Gladstone offers training in the following areas:
- The maintenance of mouse and human ESCs in a pluripotent state, including cryopreservation and preparation.
- The efficient introduction of DNA into ESCs by electroporation or viral-mediated delivery.
- The isolation and processing of drug-resistant ESC colonies
- The formation of embryoid bodies and the directed differentiation of ESCs into neurons and cardiomyocytes.
- The dissociation of EBs for growth of neurons or FACS of fluorescent cells
*Training is mandatory for all core users
