The first
event, which took place in August of 2005 in the Robert W. Mahley Auditorium
featured a classical Indian dance recital by Supriya Srinivasan, a Gladstone
visiting scientist. Dr. Srinivasan danced in the Kalakshetra style, a modern
variation of Bharatanatyam, an ancient Indian classical dance form. The colorful
evening, attended by Gladstone employees, guests, and members of the local Indian
community, included a feast of Indian food during a festive pre-performance
reception.
The second
event, "Turkish Delights," took place on Thursday, October 5, 2006. The event
began in the lobby of Gladstone with an elegant reception which featured authetnic
Turkish music by the Kervan
Ensemble and food from Alaturca.
This was followed by a dance performance presented by Yore.
