Positions at the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease

The move of our institute into Gladstone’s research facility at UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus has provided unprecedented opportunities for the expansion of our research staff and our participation in graduate and postgraduate education. We are therefore actively seeking outstanding candidates for the following positions.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Fen-Biao Gao to study molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases in Drosophila and mouse models. Candidates should possess a Ph.D., M.D., or both and have a strong training background in molecular biology, or fly genetics. Please send curriculum vitae, description of achievements, and the names of three references to Dr. Fen-Biao Gao

Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Li Gan to study molecular pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. Projects focus on elucidation of molecular mediators underlying AD-related neurodegeneration. Typical approaches involving RNA interference- and lentiviral-mediated gene silencing and overexpression in both in vitro and in vivo disease models. Candidates should possess a Ph.D., M.D., or both and have a solid background and strong interest in neuroscience. Please send curriculum vitae, description of achievements, and the names of three references to Dr. Li Gan.

Advanced Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Lennart Mucke. A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Mucke at the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease. The Gladstone Institutes is a private not-for-profit research institution affiliated with UCSF that has been ranked #1 for the best place for Postdoctoral Fellows to work . Candidates should possess a Ph.D, M.D., or both and should have a solid neuroscience background and a strong interest in studying experimental models of Alzheimer's disease. Previous training in electrophysiology is essential, including experience with one or more of the following: field recordings of brain slices; single channel recordings; analysis of spontaneous synaptic currents; calcium imaging in single cells; pharmacological approaches including concentration-response curves. The fellow will expand h/her skills by integrating physiology with cutting edge molecular biological, biochemical and behavioral techniques to parse out mechanisms responsible for cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions. Please send curriculum vitae, description of achievements, research interests, and the names of three references to Dr. Lennart Mucke.

The J. David Gladstone Institutes and UCSF are Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employers. They undertake affirmative action to assure equal employment opportunity for underutilized minorities and women, for persons with disabilities, and for Vietnam-era veterans and special disabled veterans.
