UCSF-GIVI Center for AIDS Research
The UCSF-GIVI Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) represents a formal partnership between UCSF and GIVI, and is one of 19 such research centers funded by the National Institutes of Health at major medical centers across the country. Dr. Warner Greene and UCSF’s Dr. Paul Volberding serve as co-directors of the UCSF-GIVI CFAR. Dr. Robert Grant also serves as a member of the CFAR senior leadership group. By funding key core laboratories and pilot projects, CFAR explicitly seeks to encourage translational, multidisciplinary research incorporating multiple components of the basic, clinical, and behavioral HIV research at UCSF. Particularly productive scientific collaborations have been established between scientists within Gladstone and clinicians in the UCSF Positive Health Program at San Francisco General Hospital.
