General Clinical Research Center
As part of a national General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) program, the National Institutes of Health established a GCRC at San Francisco General Hospital. The aim of the GCRC is to study human pathophysiology and to evaluate innovative therapies. The SFGH GCRC, directed by Dr. Morris Schambelan, has nine inpatient beds, a skilled research nursing staff, and a mission to perform high-quality patient-based research. The synergy resulting from the close interaction of basic and clinical researchers will allow drugs that perform well in preclinical studies to proceed rapidly to the next level of testing through approved clinical protocols conducted at the SFGH GCRC. The GCRC also provides key support and space for the UCSF-Gladstone Immunology Core Laboratory, headed by GIVI investigator Dr. Robert Grant. Tell a friend
