Positions at GIVI

Following are the currently available positions at the Gladstone Institute of Virology & Immunology. For additional information regarding the J. David Gladstone Institutes, including benefits and our Postdoctoral Fellows Training Program, please click here.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Warner Greene to study the pathogenic interplay of HIV with the cells of the immune system. Research focuses on HIV virus/host-cell interactions, innate cellular immunity and HIV accessory proteins. Candidates should possess a Ph.D., M.D. or both and have a strong publication record. Experience in virology, molecular biology and/or immunology is required. Please send Curriculum Vitae and the names and contact information of 3 references to Dr. Warner Greene. Job #P05-06W

Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Warner Greene to focus on the role of the transcription factor NF-κB. Regarded as transcriptional "master-regulators", this family of enhancer binding proteins plays a significant functional role in a variety of normal responses and disease states. Current studies involve both the regulation and role of these factors in immune cells, HIV latency, and neuronal signaling. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or M.D. or both. Applicants should have a strong publication record. Experience in cell biology, immunology and molecular biology is desirable. Please send Curriculum Vitae and the names and contact information of 3 references to Dr. Warner Greene. Job #P05-07

Postdoctoral Fellowships in the laboratories of Drs. Eric Verdin and Melanie Ott at the Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology to study the role of histone deacetylases in the immune system (Immunity, 18:687; Genes Dev., 21:638; PLoS Biol., 3:e41). Special focus lies on autoimmune diseases and regulatory T cells. Experience in immunology and/or mouse models of autoimmunity desirable. We are looking for motivated, creative and productive individuals with a Ph.D. or M.D. or both. Send CV, a short summary of previous experience and names of three references to Veronica Fonseca. Job #P07-06

Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Ya-Lin Chiu to study microRNA regulation in human cells during viral infection and interferon treatment, focusing on HIV and HCV pathogenesis. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual with a strong training background in molecular and cellular biology. Experience in virology, molecular biology and microRNA biology is required. Experience with genomewide siRNA screening and lentiviral-mediated gene silencing is highly desirable. Candidates should also possess a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Please send Curriculum Vitae, a letter of research interests, and the names and contact information of 3 references to Dr. Ya-Lin Chiu.

Postdoctoral Fellowship available in the laboratory of Dr. Ya-Lin Chiu at the Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology/University of California, San Francisco, to study innate immunity against HIV and human retroelements, focusing on APOBEC3G and related APOBEC3F enzymes. More detailed descriptions of these studies can be found on our website. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual with a strong training background in molecular and cellular biology. Experience in virology, molecular biology and/or RNA-protein biochemistry is required. Experience with genome-wide 5iRNA screening, lentiviral-mediated gene silencing, confocal microscopy and live-cell imaging are highly desirable. Candidates should also possess a Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree. Please send Curriculum Vitae, a letter of research interests, and the names and contact information of 3 references to Dr. Ya-Lin Chiu.
