The Electron Microscopy Core provides electron microscopy services and training in transmission electron microscopy (TEM).The Core maintains a JEOL JEM-1230 transmission electron microscope equipped with a Gatan high resolution CCD camera, and ancillary specimen preparation equipment. We provide fixation of tissues, dehydration and resin embedding of specimens, ultramicrotomy, contrast staining, and imaging of tissues, cells, and organelles. The Core also provides negative staining, which is frequently used to evaluate the shape, size, and uniformity of lipoprotein preparations.
